In India, as well as in Nepal Brahmin communities people use Devkota (`देवकोटा’ यो शब्दको विकास ‘संस्कृत' र यसको अपभ्रंस रूप 'देव:कोटी' हुँदै भएको हो।) as their surname. This surname belongs to the original 'Brahmin' Caste. They live all over the world i.e. in Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, the Kumaon division of Uttarakhand, Nepal. People with the surname "Devkota" are usually known for having brilliant minds and clever thoughts.
